Brace yourselves ladies of libraryland! I just discovered the online clothing retailer, eShakti and their clothes had me gasping with ooohhhs and aaahhhs. The clothes are cute, affordable, and best of all customizable. That’s right, customizable. You send your measurements to them and they will make an item to your specifications that you receive in a week. It’s not just the sizes that are customizable. You can also customize the length or the sleeves and in some cases both.
If customized clothes aren’t your thing, you can also purchase clothes in sizes 0-26W. I’m thrilled to see a company that carries cute clothes in larger sizes, since those can be especially challenging to find.
Is eShakti too good to be true? Well, I don’t think so. One of my library colleagues, who is a seamstress on the side, just ordered this gorgeous dress. I’m happy to report that it arrived in a week and it fit her perfectly.
Surplice front cotton poplin dress $52.95
After doing some research (shoutout to my favorite database Factiva), I discovered that eShakti has recently received an injection of several million dollars in venture capital money and I have the feeling they’re around to stay. Interested in checking them out? eShakti is currently offering a $20 gift certificate for new customers.
Here’s to a new retail model that makes cute and affordable clothes for all different kinds of women!

Just got my eShakti dress in (it’s the ivory buttoned blue dress above) and it looks great! It was pretty true to size, but I need to get the shoulders taken in a little bit, since it was made for a slightly taller person than me. Other than that, I love it!
